Nosferatu

So I've developed this theory that we see the movies we're meant to see when we're meant to see them. So appropriately it was a dark, ominous night when I settled down with my film class to watch Nosferatu. Nosferatu is a 1922 silent vampire film. First off, yay for the 1920s! I'm obsessed with 1920s culture so this was fabulous. 2nd so many vampires, so little talking! Well really there was only one vampire but he was creepy enough! Yeah, there's a ton of creepy sexual undertones to Nosferatu in case you were wondering. There's a ton of historical importance to this movie which was exciting for me. Like the fact that the Dracula estate sued the filmmakers for stealing the story line and then tried to destroy all the copies of the movie. And really this is the vampire film that started it all which is interesting considering the vamp-mania that is today's society. Nosferatu often tops "must see before you die" movie lists and with good reason!

Children of Men

A little late posting this... I saw this movie last Tuesday. It was my first class screening. How adorable? The plot takes place in 2012 in a dystopian world where babies haven't been born in 20 years. The main character Theo has to help a pregnant girl to safety to save humanity. It's really a beautiful well done film. I was totally captivated by it. Extremely thought provoking. It wasn't a movie I would have picked for myself, but that's what I liked about it. I recommend it!
